Biden Reportedly Drops Corporate Tax Hike, Non-Infrastructure Elements of Infrastructure Plan in Negotiations

Reports are that in negotiations with Republicans, the Biden Administration has halved the requested funds for his infrastructure program and dropped its call for raising the corporate tax rate. Efforts to craft bipartisan legislation have been met by Republican demands to remove non-infrastructure funding (green mandates, etc.) from the infrastructure bill. Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (WV) has stated his opposition to using the reconciliation process to get the infrastructure bill through without the Republican support required to overcome the filibuster.
