El Salvador Shows Biden How Getting Vaccines to Neighbors Works: Stop Talking, and Send Them!

Less than 72 hours after El Salvador President Bukele met with another group of six Honduran mayors on Saturday, this morning, trucks carrying anti-COVID-19 vaccines were heading to Honduras, where they were received in two of the Mayors’ towns with bands playing and flags of both countries waving. The mayor of Ocotepeque, Israel Guzman, summed up the response of many: “A vaccine that we get is a life that we can save. The [Salvadoran] President is very humanitarian, and always is thinking of helping Honduras.” People from Choluteca, Honduras, celebrated the message that “when the same goal of saving lives unites us, borders are only imaginary lines.”

The vaccines to the other four towns, located on off-shore islands, are being sent by air.
