‘G7 Carbis Bay Health Declaration’ Issued from Cornwall at Close of G7 Summit

The G7 Summit in Cornwall today issued a 16-point “G7 Carbis Bay Health Declaration,” at the conclusion of its three-day meeting. It opens, “We, the G7 Leaders, commit work expeditiously and collectively toward the goal of ending the COVID-19 pandemic, while also recognizing that the next one could come at any time.” It then proceeds, in the spirit of the April Rome Declaration from the G20 Global Health Summit, to address the crisis with no recognition of the economic infrastructure and science involved in providing for real world health security. Its points include more support for the WHO, and relevant whatnot, e.g. creating a “stronger international pathogen surveillance network.”
