Iran Nuclear Deal Talks Appear To Be Going Nowhere

The indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran seem to be going nowhere, if recent comments by Iranian officials are any indication. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a televised speech this morning that what Iran needs from the other parties to the agreement is action, not promises. Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s top negotiator in the talks, keeps saying that the current fifth round could be the final round of talks or it might not be. It is the other side that has to make tough decisions, Araqchi said yesterday, and declaring that Iran hopes they would be able to make such a decision.
