A cross-party group of 11 Australian Parliamentarians and Senators issued a video message yesterday directed at President Biden, calling on him to drop charges against Julian Assange, and imploring the British government to release him and send him home. In the short video, the legislators note that they have received a petition signed by over 600,000 Australian citizens urging them to take action to free Assange—one of the largest petitions they have ever received. Each added his own brief statement on why urgent action is required. The Australian Labor Party appears to have taken the lead here.
