Despite having 50% of its population fully vaccinated and just shy of 70% having received at least one shot, the number of new daily COVID-19 cases has reached 30,000, a level that is 1,000% the lowest number, achieved in May. The number of daily cases is now half the U.K.’s all-time peak in January.
Daily new cases in the U.S. are up 50% from their lowest value (in the middle of June).
(Remember that a COVID case today is not equal to a COVID case in January, since some of today’s cases are among vaccinated individuals who are far less likely to require hospitalization.)
