An EU law banning a whole series of single-use products will be in force starting July 3. The law was approved in 2019 and concerns mostly products used for food (dishes, cutlery etc.) as well as cotton swabs and other items. Sanitary items are excluded – for the moment. The law is a blow for all European producers, who have only one month to get rid of their stocks.

The EU regulation has even included some “bioplastics,” such as those produced with vegetal fibers, in their black list. The plastic sector in Europe employs 2.5 million people.
