U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry’s visit to Moscow seems to have yielded good prospects for U.S. Russian cooperation. Unfortunately, that cooperation will be in the field of climate change — a topic dominated by unscientific quackery worldwide — and not on more substantive and pressing strategic issues.
On July 12, Kerry met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov; on July 13 he met with Ruslan Edelgeriyev, the Russian presidential envoy for climate matters. “Russia and the United States stressed the importance of scientific data in decision-making,” a statement issued by Edelgeriyev’s office reported. “During the discussion, they relied on information from the intergovernmental group of experts in climate change. ... The American side suggested research cooperation between the two countries be expanded.”
