Biden Sticks with Aug. 31 Deadline for Ending US Evacuation Operation in Afghanistan

President Joe Biden made it clear during a videoconference summit of the G7 leaders, today, that he is sticking to the deadline of Aug. 31 for completing the US evacuation mission in Kabul, though with some small amount of flexibility. According to a statement issued by Press Secretary Jen Psaki, Biden “conveyed that our mission in Kabul will end based on the achievement of our objectives” and that the US is on track to finish by Aug. 31.
