China Close to Vaccinating 1 Billion of Its Citizens

China’s National Health Commission (its ministry of health) reported at their Aug. 13 briefing that 1.83 billion doses of vaccination have been administered, with 777 million Chinese fully vaccinated. This means that when about 276 million Chinese, who have had their first jab, get their second over the next month, 1.053 million out of 1.400 million Chinese will be fully vaccinated — 75% overall, and a very high percentage of the 12-and-older population eligible for vaccinations.

The Commission also announced that their 19-day rise in Delta variant cases is now well under control. There have been 1,282 cases in 48 cities in 18 provinces as of Aug. 12, and now 36 of the cities have had no cases for over five days. They plan to mop up the last 12 cities over the coming week or so.
