In a letter to COP26 U.K. president Alok Sharma, the World Nuclear Association trade body said that every application made by nuclear groups for exhibits at the global climate conference had been rejected. The World Nuclear Assn lists 183 nuclear companies as members. Its representative told the Scotland-based investigative journalism platform, The Ferret, that it was “deeply concerned” that plans for nuclear exhibits in civil society’s Green Zone at COP26 had been turned down. The Green Zone is billed as a space for “workshops, panel discussions and keynote speeches” which “promote dialogue, awareness, education and commitments” regarding the so-called climate crisis. Exhibitors will perhaps be required to kiss the Earth with sufficient passion in order to qualify.
