Former Deputy Spokesman for Afghanistan's President Gunned Down

The head of Afghanistan’s Media and Information Center (MIC), Dawa Khan Menapal, was gunned down in Kabul on Aug. 6 by unidentified gunmen, according to 1TV television. It is reported by an official of the Interior Ministry that he had left a mosque after attending prayer services in the afternoon and was in a car. The location, on Dar-ul-Aman Road, was also proximate to the Russian Embassy. Menapal had been the deputy spokesman for the President until he switched to the MIC last year.
