The European Union will launch “Global Gateway” as a scheme to compete with China’s Belt and Road Initiative, including military projection.
One day after EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the “Global Gateway” initiative in her State of the Union speech on Sept. 15, the Commission sent an 18-page paper to the EU Parliament and to the EU Council which details what the initiative is, according to Il Sole 24 Daily.
