Edward Luce, the anti-U.S. U.S. columnist for the Financial Times and then-Treasury Secretary Larry Summers’ speechwriter, complains in an FT column posted yesterday, that not only is President Joe Biden not listening to Europe, either on Afghanistan or on COVID vaccines, decoupling from China, and trade deals; but Biden’s biggest transgression is on climate policy! “The Biden administration has made great stock of the clean energy investments contained in the President’s $3.5 trillion budget bill,” Luce writes. “But there will be no carbon price, and no petrol tax increase, on his watch. That would break his pledge not to raise taxes on the middle class.”
