German Chemical Industry Favors Keeping Nuclear Power

Christian Kullmann, CEO of the chemical company Evonik and chairman of the national Association of Chemical Industry (VCI), told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Daily edition available only for special subscribers (FAZ+), that industry is concerned about increasing imports of electricity at rising prices: “This raises the question for me whether we should not use more nuclear power ourselves—at least for as long as we do not have an (alternative) base load available. For, if we become dependent on imports, it will really become expensive.”
