Jake Sullivan Expects a U.S. ‘Economic and Development Assistance’ Relationship with the Taliban

Jake Sullivan, U.S. National Security Advisor, said Aug. 31 on ABC News’ “Good Morning America,” that the U.S. would provide aid to Afghanistan via the WHO and via NGOs, but not through the Taliban until the U.S. has approved of their behavior. Then he went on that, upon such approval, an “economic and development assistance relationship” with the Taliban could be established. Of course, the very possibility of a U.S. administration establishing an “economic and development assistance relationship” with anyone was more than enough to generate multiple attacks and hysteria over the next 24 hours.
