Running Out of Wind, Germany Has To Use More Coal

Germany has suffered has seen a drastic drop in power generation by wind parks in the first half of 2021, which has provided 21% less than in the first half of 2020. In short, the combined power generation from “renewables” was decreased by 11.7%, knocking their total share in the national energy mix down to 44%—the lowest since the first half of 2018. The gap left by “renewables” had to be filled by coal, gas, and nuclear, with coal increasing its share by 35.5%, to 20.9% of the total. Thus, coal, gas, and nuclear contributed a combined share of 56% to the national energy mix.
