Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told TASS yesterday that strategic stability talks with the U.S. will resume at the end of this month in Geneva. The last round of face-to-face meetings between the sides took place in July. He reported that “we are in contact with the Americans, including via conference calls. Such contacts will continue until a personal meeting [is held.] The process is rather intensive.”
Ryabkov cautioned that these talks are “not like with a meteor falling—sudden yet memorable.” There is a consistent work in progress—nothing “sensational.” The meetings take place in an interagency format, and thus “the schedules of the representatives of a whole number of structures on both sides should be coordinated.”
