Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who recently accepted his party’s nomination as their candidate for Vice President in next year’s election, has announced he will instead retire after his term. He told the press that “the overwhelming sentiment of the Filipinos is that I am not qualified.” He also said that running as VP, although not against the law preventing more than one term for a President, would be against “spirit of the constitution.”
