Xinhua Quotes Schiller Institute's Black and OPEC Leader on High Energy Density Requirements

In an international wire story and Twitter feed dated Saturday, Oct. 2, titled, “BRI Remains Attractive as Decarbonization Push Garners Attention,” Xinhua reflected the critical debate for and against the end of economic development in the Global South through CO2 emissions caps. This occurs in the current run-up to the COP26 UN Climate Summit scheduled for Nov. 1-12 in Glasgow.

Among others quoted on the question of the BRI’s global impact and its current energy policy is the Schiller Institute’s Richard Black: “The BRI remains attractive to developing nations because it is the pathway defined by the scientific education of workforces, the transfer of advanced energy-intensive technologies, and the integration into a modern system of high energy use per capita. The BRI is already a bright white pearl amidst a shore of dull sand.... China’s Global Development Initiative calling for ‘a new stage of balanced, coordinated and inclusive growth’ and staying committed to development as a priority is the most important and revolutionary proposal at the just-concluded United Nations General Assembly…. China’s own development miracle, in terms of poverty alleviation and application of advanced technologies, has motivated other countries to join the BRI.”
