Jeff Bezos has been one of the stars at COP26, working directly with the Royal Family. He and his partner, journalist Lauren Sanchez, had a private meeting with Prince Charles on Oct. 31 at the Prince’s Foundation house in Scotland before the official proceedings began. “The Prince of Wales has been involved in fighting climate change and protecting our beautiful world for five decades — far longer than most,” Bezos gushed in a tweet. “We had a chance to discuss these important issues on the eve of #COP26 — looking for solutions to heal our world, and how the @BezosEarthFund can help.” Sanchez published pictures of the three “sharing a smile.” Bezos was then featured in the Nov. 2 “Great Green Wall” forum hosted by His Royal Highness and French President Emmanuel Macron, pledging $2 billion from the “Bezos Earth Fund": $1 billion for tree planting in U.S. and Africa, and the other billion earmarked for lowering agricultural productivity worldwide ("transforming agricultural systems to try to increase crop yields, reduce food waste and encourage more plant-based diets").
