China continued its protests against the visit of six U.S. lawmakers to Taiwan, travelling by means of a U.S. military vehicle. While the visit of the lawmakers might well have led to protests no matter how they arrived in Taiwan, the military transport is viewed as a further intrusion of the U.S. military into Taiwan, as Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen recently confirmed that U.S. military “advisers” were in Taiwan allegedly training their Taiwanese counterparts.
