While polls had indicated that Sara Duterte-Carpio, the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, had the greatest support to run for pPresident in the May 9 Philippines election, she has now announced that she will run for Vice President together with Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., the son of former President Ferdinand Marcos.
The coming together of the Duterte family and the Marcos family is certain to be causing heartburn among the U.S. neocons who so prided themselves in the regime change coup against Marcos in 1986, which transformed the Philippines from one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia into the basket case of Southeast Asia.
