Vice President Kamala Harris was formally acting President of the United States on Nov. 19 for an hour and 25 minutes, while President Biden was under anesthesia for a routine colonoscopy. The only real news here is that the media tried to make a big deal out of what is in fact standard operating procedure. One wonders if some in the Establishment were considering this a dry run.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki explained: “As was the case when President George W. Bush had the same procedure in 2002 and 2007, and following the process set out in the Constitution, President Biden will transfer power to the Vice President for the brief period of time when he is under anesthesia. The Vice President will work from her office in the West Wing during this time.”
