Military Medical Teams Deployed to Hospitals in Minnesota and Washington

In the face of a renewed surge of COVID19 cases in certain parts of the country the Department of Defense, at the request of local authorities, has deployed medical teams to Minnesota and Washington state to relieve over-stressed hospitals. In Minnesota, the DOD is sending emergency medical teams — with 22 medical personnel each —to the Hennepin County Medical Center and St. Cloud Hospital, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s office said in a statement on Nov. 16. The teams are expected to arrive next week and will begin treating patients immediately. Walz said the teams will provide “an important measure of relief to the healthcare personnel who remain on the frontline of this crisis.”
