Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Vladimir Putin held an unusually long, 1h45 telephone discussion, which dealt with the “migrant” conflict at the Belarus-Polish border, but also with other issues such as Ukraine and the recent gathering in Paris on the Libyan crisis.
Concerning the Belarus-Polish conflict, the Elysee states that “the two leaders agreed to work together to de-escalate the migration crisis, to prevent increased tensions over energy issues, and to involve the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in providing humanitarian assistance.”
