Ukraine's Presidential Spokesman Says No Evidence of Russian Troops Massing on the Border

Sergey Nikiforov, spokesman for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told Dom-TV yesterday that the President’s office possessed no information suggesting a buildup of Russian troops along the border with Ukraine, both RT and TASS reported. Nor, he said, did Kiev’s Defense Ministry have any confirmation of these allegations, further stating that Russian troop concentrations on the border are nothing “beyond ordinary levels.” According to France24, Nikiforov’s remarks came just a few hours before the announcement that Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Taran had resigned, reportedly for health reasons. France24 suggests that Taran’s resignation may be a sign that a more extensive cabinet reshuffling may be in the works, although nothing more is being said about it at present.
