Blinken Accuses Russia of Invading Kazakhstan, Gets History Backwards Once Again

Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during a press availability with reporters, in effect accused Moscow of invading Kazakhstan as well as Ukraine. After questioning the Kazakh government’s request for the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) deployment of Russian and other nations’ troops to help stop the chaos and destruction, he said: “There are very particular drivers of what’s happening in Kazakhstan right now, as I said, that go to economic and political matters. And what’s happening in there is different from what’s happening on Ukraine’s borders. Having said that, I think one lesson in recent history is that once Russians are in your house, it’s sometimes very difficult to get them to leave.”

Immediately afterwards, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement ridiculing and denouncing Blinken’s remark, rightfully pointing out that it is the U.S. which is expert at invading other people’s houses and overstaying its welcome. “Today U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken joked about the tragic events in Kazakhstan in his typical boorish manner,” the ministry said, dismissing the statement as a “snide remark” while arguing that its peacekeeping effort under the regional CSTO is “absolutely legitimate,” reported RT.
