On Friday Dec. 30, Gong Xianzu, a researcher at the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who is in charge of the experiment conducted in Hefei, capital of east China’s Anhui Province, proudly announced that their Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) set a new world record after running a plasma reaction at 70 Million Celsius for 1,056 seconds – more than 17 minutes !
