Bloomberg Green covers a McKinsey report saying that Green Transition needs investing of $9.2 trillion a year from now to 2050. This makes a total of a mere $275 trillion. Part of the money should come from disinvesting from sectors of the carbon economy, they report. For example, $1 trillion could come from the $3.7 trillion already invested in “high-emission” activities. This would be on top of the $2 trillion already invested in “clean” technology and related infrastructure. At the end, the total “new” investments would amount to $3.5 trillion per year, the report says (don’t ask me who did the math).
