Is a new provocation being whipped up in the Donbas region in order to spark a war? The Donetsk News Agency (DAN) reports this morning that Ukrainian armed formations delivered strikes at the areas of nine settlements in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics within two hours on Thursday morning, expending some 160 rounds of ammunition of caliber larger than 12.7mm.
“Tensions on the contact line have increased dramatically,” the DPR militia said in a separate report. “The enemy is making attempts to start hostilities. To protect the civilian population, our defenders had to open return fire in order to suppress enemy firepower.”
