On Feb. 24, Germany, which holds the chairmanship of the G7, will host a virtual summit of the leaders of the group. This was announced Feb. 18 by German government Deputy Spokesman Wolfgang Buchner, who said that topics will include, “the geopolitical situation related to the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border,” and otherwise prepare for the G7 summit scheduled for June 26-28 in Bavaria.
The G7 issued a joint statement Feb. 19, consisting of 10 points of the standard lies and laments about Russia menacing Ukraine and Europe. “We call on Russia to choose the path of diplomacy, to de-escalate tensions, to substantively withdraw military forces from the proximity of Ukraine’s borders and to fully abide by international commitments including on risk reduction and transparency of military activities,” The statement warned there will be “massive consequences” if Russia invades Ukraine, which will “impose severe and unprecedented costs on the Russian economy.”
