Not surprisingly, following their virtual meeting today, the leaders of the G7 countries (U.S., Canada, the U.K., Italy, Germany, France, Japan), with Germany serving as the 2022 president, issued a hypocritical screed, expressing moral outrage over Russia’s alleged “unprovoked” aggression against “the democratic state of Ukraine” which they claimed was based on “fabricated claims and unfounded allegations.” The statement retails many accusations against Putin for having violated the “rules-based international order,” for changing the “Euro-Atlantic security situation,” and reintroducing war to the European continent. “He has put himself on the wrong side of history,” they howled. The G7 leaders shed crocodile tears for the people of Ukraine—not for having suffered years of penury and misery under an IMF and pro-Nazi, Russophobic regime, but for being given the chance to be free of it.
