German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock apparently had instructions from Chancellor Olaf Scholz to avoid concrete commitments on the issue of support to Ukraine during her visit to Kiev; her remarks to the press were rather vague. She pledged Germany’s support and solidarity to Ukraine, saying that in the event of sanctions against Russia, Germany is “prepared to pay a high economic price for this,” Baerbock stressed at a press conference late yesterday afternoon with her Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba.
