In a Feb. 15 video posted on her website, Ukrainian Progressive Socialist Party leader Dr. Natalia Vitrenko analyzed who thinks they will benefit from a war in Ukraine. Her conclusion: only the leaders of the U.K. and the U.S., whose motivation for a war stems from the economic collapse of the “Anglo-Saxon” trans-Atlantic economies. Neither Russia, nor the population of Ukraine wants a war, she said. The Ukrainian government is split: Some realize that the already-battered national economy would completely collapse in a war, but others are gripped by mania, built up over recent years, about the need to fight Russia. Leaders of the second tendency, the fascist faction in the institutions and the military, have blackmail power over the first. On Feb. 14 the Ukrainian intelligence service SBU issued a demand that the Ukrainian media stop abetting those who are spreading panic about a “Russian invasion,” calling this a form of hybrid war. If they were serious, Vitrenko observed, they would arrest key figures in the 2013-14 Maidan coup, who still talk about killing “Moskali” (pejorative for “Muscovites"), and stop protecting the neo-Nazi, White Supremacist “S14” paramilitary outfit.
The EU would not benefit from war either, as a war-driven surge of inflation would make Europe’s current problems with energy prices look mild. But the “Anglo-Saxons” want to rule the world and destroy Russia, she said. Vitrenko, an economist, pointed to the financial cancer they created through derivatives speculation, which is wrecking the entire world economy, while the U.S. has failed to deal with the pandemic or inflation, and both the U.S. and the U.K. have a negative trade balance and an enormous foreign debt. Midterm elections are drawing near in the United States and Biden has nothing to show or offer, Vitrenko said; she attributed to that situation, the attempt to arm-twist Ukraine into war.
