Referenda on Drug Legalization, Euthanasia Rejected in Italy

The Italian Constitutional Court yesterday rejected a referendum on the legalization of so-called “soft” drugs. The text, backed by the needed number of signatures, was hiding a provision for legalizing all drugs, the Court argued.

This argument had been first raised by former UN Drug Czar Pino Arlacchi, who had exposed the trick in national media.

The Court also rejected a referendum on euthanasia.
