March28 (EIRNS)—VR Transpoint, a subsidiary of Finland’s rail operator VR Group, suspended the traffic of freight wagons from Russia on March 27. VR Group said the return of railcars from Finland to Russia would continue for now. “The continuation of freight traffic between Russia and Finland is no longer possible because of the sanctions imposed on Russian Railways. VR Group is obliged to comply with the sanctions imposed by the Western countries,” VR Transpoint Senior Vice President Martti Koskinen said. As reported, VR Group will also halt passenger rail traffic between Russia and Finland by Allegro trains on March 28.
