The Italian Parliament voted a 50% increase of the defense budget on March 16, justified by the hysteria on the conflict in Ukraine. The Italian budget is pretty small: It will go from €25 billion to €38 billion yearly, but it will aim at increasing further in order to reach the target of 2% of GDP.
Draghi’s government cannot find more than €4 billion to help households, farmers and industries to pay their energy bills, but it can find three times that much for weapons.
