RIA Novosti ran four Russian language articles based on a March 12 in-person interview with Richard Black, Schiller Institute Representative at the UN. The articles focused on the West’s use of sanctions as an act of war, the Schiller Institute’s call for a New Paradigm of global economic relations, on the role of the American oligarchs of Facebook and Twitter in stoking the war in Ukraine, and on NATO as the instigator of war. Quoting Black, RIA Novosti wrote: “The alternative that we, of the Schiller Institute, are calling for are negotiations to create a new economic paradigm of productive cooperation between Europe and the U.S. on the one hand, and China, Russia and the growing economies of Asia, on the other….
“Given Ukraine’s history and geography, it would be wise for Ukraine not only to be a neutral state, but to become also a bridge between Western Europe and the rest of Eurasia. Ukraine has historically been a scientific center, as well as one of the richest agricultural areas in the world. It would be well located for such a role. If the Nazi elements are removed from power, Ukraine could play a positive role. Neutral status is, of course, necessary. But this is only a first step. The Schiller institute has been calling for several decades for the creation of a Eurasian Land-bridge. As a bridge between economies and cultures, Ukraine could play an extremely important role.”
