Demonstrating the frantic efforts to maintain their collapsing role as the “world’s only superpower,” the Biden administration has announced that it is considering sanctions on India, claiming it is due to India’s purchase of Russian military equipment. Of course, India has always depended on Russia for its military — nothing new. What is new is India refusing to allow the Quad to be a tool of NATO, by refusing to join with the U.S., Japan and Australia this week in denouncing Russia over Ukraine.
The Hill reported that Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian affairs, Donald Lu, on Thursday told the Congress that “the administration is weighing how threatening India’s historically close military relationship with Russia is to U.S. security. It’s a question we’re looking at very closely, as the administration is looking at the broader question over whether to apply sanctions under CAATSA or to waive those sanctions,” Lu said.
