As the Azov Battalion’s grip over Mariupol crumbles, the Russian goal of denazification remains front and center. Evidently, some military personnel of NATO countries have been captured, presumably mercenaries. Russian Sen. Andrey Klimov, deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, and head of the Council’s Commission for the Protection of State Sovereignty, remarked today that the West “continues its war [against Russia] with the hands of Ukrainians, as well as mercenaries…. We already have NATO-country military personnel among our prisoners; we will show all this when we conduct trials, and the whole world will see what really happened.” Klimov is in a position to know the plans.
