Chinese UN Ambassador Calls for Investigation Rather Than Accusations in Bucha Incident, Warns of Economic Costs Of Sanction.

Zhang Jun, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, speaking at the April 5 UN Security Council meeting addressed by Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelenskyy, called on the members to desist from “unfounded accusations” until a thorough investigation has been conducted. Ambassador Zhang reiterated China’s position that sanctions are a bad response to the situation and would only aggravate the crisis. He also pointed to the dire economic effects of the sanctions, particularly on the developing world.
