Indonesia announced on April 22, a ban on exports of palm oil, in respect of keeping domestic prices from inflating more. A rally against high food prices took place last week in Jakarta. President Joko Widodo issued a statement saying, “I will continue to monitor and evaluate the implementation of this policy so that the availability of cooking oil in the country is abundant and at an affordable price.”
