Lebanese are queueing for bread, as trade unions announced bakeries have flour for at most 10 days. In recent days, the government issued regulations that flour could be used only for bread, not for other products, but supplies are now running out, reported Naharnet Lebanese digital media.
Egypt, the main wheat importer in Africa, and the world’s largest importer of wheat (12+ million metric tons a year), does not seem to be in such an immediate emergency for the moment, as stocks are at two and a half months’ worth, and soon the next harvest will be available. But the government is concerned with covering the coming winter supplies.
