Weapons continue to flow not only into Ukraine but also into Eastern Europe more generally. The Polish Defense Ministry announced yesterday it signed a deal with the U.S. for the purchase of 250 M1 Abrams tanks. “The task of these tanks, which come as a consequence of the Polish government’s strengthening the Polish Army, is to deter a possible aggressor,” said Warsaw’s Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak at a signing ceremony with U.S. officials, reported Polish news agency TVP World. “We are all aware of what is happening beyond our eastern border.” Present at the signing was also U.S. Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski, who said that on top of giving Poland great power, “the deal was more than just a contract – it was the start of a deeper partnership between Poland’s and America’s armed forces.”
