There has been great emotion expressed in the aftermath of the Twitter board’s decision to move forward on accepting Elon Musk’s offer to purchase the company — ranging from wailing and gnashing of teeth, to elation about the opportunity to state such controversial views as “men cannot become pregnant.”

A glance at social media reveals overwrought announcements of people deleting their accounts (or at least claiming they will), lamenting the assault on “equitable speech” (a notable neologism), and fretting about losing ground on the battle against disinformation.

Jen Psaki, for example, has now discovered that she is concerned about social media having too much power, a viewpoint she did not express when Twitter banned discussion of the laptop formerly belonging to Biden’s son.

While Musk is expected to roll back some Twitter regulations that have prevented expression of a ceaselessly updating set of disallowed viewpoints, what of the most important issues — on Russia and China, for example?
