Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) is playing with fire but is evidently too stupid to realize it. During an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” yesterday, he announced that he has introduced legislation to authorize President Joe Biden to send troops into Ukraine should Russian President Vladimir Putin use chemical, biological or nuclear weapons there. The history of chemical weapons hoaxes in Syria suggests that were Biden to sign such legislation, similar hoaxes in Ukraine would not be long in coming, not least, as we have reported, now that the White Helmets that played a major role in those hoaxes, are now in Ukraine. Kinzinger compared the current situation in Ukraine to pre-World War II and said while the U.S. should continue to work to contain the ongoing war, it should also be prepared to respond in the event of a Russian escalation. “If Vladimir Putin wants to escalate with the West, he will,” he claimed (proving that he in fact knows nothing about Russia and Putin—ed.). “It’s easy for him to do it. And I think right now what we’re doing with supply and with Lend-Lease, with the financing is right.”
Kinzinger said that while he did not think “we need to be using force in Ukraine right now,” he introduced his Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) to give the President “congressional leverage” to deploy the U.S. military “if WMDs, nuclear, biological or chemical are used in Ukraine.”
