Sen. Lindsey Graham’s appearance on “Fox News Sunday” showed that imperial “Liz Truss disease” also rages in the U.S. Senate. Graham demanded President Putin’s overthrow and trial as a war criminal, and all but proclaimed the United States is at war with Russia. The clownish “triple-down in Ukraine” part came first: CIA Director William “Burns said Russia would double down in Ukraine because it can’t afford to lose. I want to triple down on our effort to arm Ukraine.” Graham also threw out, “If Putin wins, Taiwan will be invaded by China immediately.” Then he demanded regime-change: “Putin must go. Let’s take out Putin by aiding Ukraine…. There is no off-ramp for him in this war…. He’s earned the designation of a state sponsor of terrorism…. If he uses chemical weapons in eastern Ukraine, then there’ll be a no-fly zone.” Finally Graham admitted the U.S. was fighting a war against Russia, with only a slight pause indicating he knew he was going too far publicly: “We can win this war with Putin—uh—on behalf of Ukraine.”
House members Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) were on the same line in an op-ed in the Washington Post May 6. “It must be the policy of the United States that the strategic objective in Ukraine is victory for a free and democratic Ukraine, and defeat for Vladimir Putin. The strength of our democracy here at home depends on it,” they added crazily and in complete defiance of the views of Americans. “To balance the disparity in firepower, the U.S. government must guarantee weapons, training and intelligence support that Ukrainian forces can use,” thus being a co-belligerent.
