Patrushev Warns, Russia Will Not Permit ‘the Establishment of a Western-Controlled Regime in Russia’

Nikolai Patrushev, the secretary of the Russian Security Council, spoke at a meeting of the Russian Security Council’s scientific advisory board, and delivered a very hard-nosed warning against the Western attacks on Russia. According to an account in TASS, Patrushev said that the current “unprecedented geopolitical crisis” was caused by the Western-led destruction of “the global security architecture and the international legal system.”

He asserted that, “in the end, the West seeks to create conditions to establish a regime in Russia, controlled by the West, as was already done in Ukraine and in a number of other states.” “The special military operation thwarted these plans,” he underscored, explaining that Moscow had to “use this preventive measure, because the level of threats to national security, disregard to our country’s interests has entered a new level, which threatened Russia’s very statehood and existence.”
