The Real Story on Peter Thiel and the Ohio Primary, Not the New York Times Version

The New York Times is slyly portraying the May 3 Ohio Republican primary election outcome as “a sign of the power of Donald Trump’s endorsement,” showing a rare moment of “respect” for Trump, because the Times is happy to see him in alliance with the military-industrial complex. Yesterday, James David (J.D.) Vance, a business partner of NATO arms production speculator Peter Thiel, won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, in a four-way race that had been heavily targeted by Thiel.

Thiel – who has met with Trump at least twice in the last year, to wave money in his face – launched his business partner’s Ohio race with a starter fund of $10 million, which he eventually increased to a total of $15 million, the largest amount ever donated in support of a single Senate candidate. Vance is a co-partner in Thiel’s subsidiary called Mithril, one of the collection of military intelligence contractors spawned by Thiel since the endless wars after 9/11. Currently, Thiel is funneling large contributions into 16 Senate and House candidacies, a list including Ted Cruz, as well as a political newcomer in Wyoming who is running against Liz Cheney.
